[ Crowley freezes, shocked into some kind of paralysis when the angel's arms go around him. Now they're both thoroughly wrapped up in each other, and he - he doesn't know what to do with this. It's all he's ever wanted, but does Aziraphale even realize - ? ]

S - sssorry. Don't, uh. Don't think you can go back to the ssssame dream.

[ He hisses that quietly into Aziraphale's hair. ]

Mm, shame.

[ But he's snoozing away anyway, holding onto Crowley tightly, nuzzling into his hair which is so soft and smells both lovely and infernal. Like a smoldering ember.

It's very comfortable, and he finds himself easily breathing slowly again, drifting in and out of silly short bouts of sleep as he tries and fails to wake up. ]

Are we still in bed? I think I dreamed away the day...

[ After a certain point, Crowley finds himself fully awake, while Aziraphale dozes. He can't help it; being like this, holding him like this, seeing him so relaxed, so willing to be vulnerable with him, it feels... precious. Something that could easily be taken away from him. Crowley feels the need to commit it to memory - the sight, sound, smell and feel of Aziraphale in his arms. Because it'll probably never happen again.

So he hasn't been sleeping for a while by the time Aziraphale asks that question. ]

Mm. Maybe. Does it matter? If the - if the dreams were nice.

I suppose it doesn't.

[ He slowly wakes up this time, actually, surprised at first when he's so close to Crowley. ]

Oh, I'm - so sorry, I don't know how I... Is this uncomfortable?

[ Because it's quite comfortable for him. It makes him feel all warm, like he'd just been stretching out as a cat does under the sun. ]

[ Oh, there it is. Aziraphale has been so relaxed, so unconcerned, and now he's fully awake and he's going to immediately regret this and never do it again. Crowley feels it like a sinking weight in his chest. ]

[ No, it's not uncomfortable. But he does - reluctantly, slowly - start to extricate himself from the angel. ]

Well, I do hope it's warm, then.

[ But it doesn't seem to bother Crowley much, which is just fine by Aziraphale. ]

I don't mind it. If you... want to stay. Warm. That is.

[ He is warm. And soft. And he smells like - well, like Aziraphale, which is the best, most comforting smell in the world as far as Crowley is concerned.

Eventually, he settles again, head sort of half-tucked up under Aziraphale's chin. ]

...You sure?

[ Touching at all isn't really in their usual repertoire. And this is - and he must feel - Crowley is trying not to spiral here. ]

[ Well, Aziraphale thinks it's comfortable. And Crowley is so... sweet, like this. Warm. ]

I'm sure. As long as you're comfortable, dear.

[ He smiles into Crowley's hair. It just makes him so soft. ]

I'm fine. You're the one snuggled up to - to - well. To a demon.

[ He mutters that into Aziraphale's chest, almost as though he doesn't want him to hear it. ]

I'm a bit pokey, is all.

Well, you were a snake.

And I know you're a demon, dear. But you're rather comfortable.

[ He grins and snuggles into Crowley. ]

Oh. Okay.

[ His voice might be pitched just a liiiiittle higher than normal, but he doesn't comment on it, and he definitely does not nuzzle faintly at Aziraphale, breathing in his scent. ]

So... sleep. Not so bad, huh.

Not terrible, no.

But...

I think I like the part where we wake up the best.

[ Crowley feels warm, and his hair is soft. He could use more days like these. ]

[ Crowley swallows, feeling himself blushing. Blushing! Him! Over - over snuggling with the angel! ]

We.

[ He says that faintly. Like he's trying it out. We wake up. ]

Yeah, I think. I think it might be my favorite thing.

[ Favorite part of sleeping? No, this may be his favorite thing ever, waking up with Aziraphale. Having Aziraphale soft, sleepy and smiling in his arms. He's never experienced anything better. Never. ]

Well, yes. I woke up, and you woke up. So we woke up.

[ He smiles, and is glad that Crowley is in agreement. Because this is a sweet side to Crowley, one that only Aziraphale ever gets to see. But he'd be lying if he said he didn't want to coax it out all the more. ]

I'm not sure I'll ever get the hang of the sleeping part, but I do like this.

Well. Hngh. S'pose.

[ Play it cool, Crowley. Just be cool. He huffs, glances away, tries his best to act casual while still curled up in bed with Aziraphale - which doesn't really work, but play along. ]

Could do it again sometime, if you want.

Oh, really?

I think I'd like that.

[ He grins and scrunches his nose. ]

Should we get up, then?

[ Oh. He would like that. Crowley smiles faintly, burying it against Aziraphale's neck. ]

Don't have to.

[ He mutters that, glancing at the angel's face. ]

Nowhere else to be for the moment.

Oh, all right. We can stay in bed.

[ Crowley's just going to snake all over him and he kind of feels a certain way about it. ]

Don't know how you manage to get out of bed, it's so comfortable.

[ For better or for worse, Crowley is also feeling a certain way about all this. ]

Never had you in here with me. 's even better.

[ Oh, he really just admitted that aloud, huh? Good thing he's hiding his face in Aziraphale's neck, because it is turning red. ]

Oh? Well, then, I won't want to try this without you.

[ And maybe he'll offer to come to bed more often, if it's so much better. ]

It is nice to be retired, isn't it?

[ He affirms that, wrapping himself even more tightly around the angel. Snake, indeed. He almost might as well be in snake form. ]

[ He's just spilling all sorts of intimate details today! He might be literally about to catch fire. ]

Oh? Wonderful, my dear.

[ He strokes Crowley's hair and tangles a little bit against him as well, so that they can squish up as close as possible as they embrace. ]

You're not overheating? I am quite warm.

[ He loves Aziraphale's warmth. He loves - Aziraphale. Has for a long, long time. This is - more than he would've ever dreamed of being allowed to do. He'd kiss him if he thought he could get away with it, but that'd probably be pushing his luck. Aziraphale probably thinks that humans just - sleep like this with their friends sometimes. ]

[ He really doesn't know if people do this platonically with friends, but to be absolutely fair, he and Crowley have crossed that line several times, he thinks. ]

I really can't believe the humans spend a third of their lives asleep.

I think they have to. Or it makes them cranky.

[ Crowley shrugs. ]

This is definitely making me less cranky.
