[Oh! Scones, how lovely. Much more lovely than the pumpkin innards strewn about the newsprint. He chews on one as he contemplates Crowley's remarks.]

You'd think they'd find other things to occupy their time. [He smiles blithely like he has no idea one could make a dirty joke about pumpkins. He could.]

To be fair, so could Europeans, and yet here we are.

[ humans, amirite? Also he’s not sure exactly what they’re talking about anymore and he’s too proud to ask. ]

All I'm doing is making an awful mess. Which I'm starting to suspect might be part of the point?

[Aha! Innards, all scooped out. He loosely grips a pencil and starts doodling a rough idea of what he'd like to carve. A smiling face? Some sort of bat? The possibilities are endless.]

You could do a snake. I could model for you.

[ Eyebrow quirk. ]

Oh, would you? It'd be rather distinctive, I think. Very spookylike.

[He gathers "spooky" is something of the main goal, here.]

[ He's already morphing into snake form, avoiding the pumpkin innards in favor of slithering up Aziraphale's arm and across his shoulders, forked tongue flickering over his ear playfully. ]

[He will very gently boop the snake snoot, as the kids on the internet would say.]

You can certainly cut a very terrifying figure, when you like.

[Unfortunately, Aziraphale is completely immune to this, and so will instead continue gently holding Crowley, his shoulders admittedly doing most of the work.]

[ Another flick of his tongue and then he's sliding back to the table, ready to pose. ]

Perhaps you could give a great big chomping look? Or... Hm, you are the expert here, so... what do you suggest?

[He tilts his head this way and that, checking angles and suchlike.]

Dependsssss. How ssssspooky do you want me?

[ Yes shut up he can talk as a snake it's just a bit sibilant. He sort of rears back his head, baring his fangs to demonstrate. ]

Oh, I'd say medium-level spooky? Just like that, actually.

[Wonderful! He does a quick bit of marking on the pumpkin so Crowley doesn't have to hold his pose too long.]

Planning to ssscare anyone, angel?

[ Crowley's eyes flash with amusement. ]

You know I'm alwayssss up for it.

Oh, no one in particular. Just... customers sometimes have these strange ideas, and I'd like to gently discourage them.

[He starts carving up the pumpkin, a little delicately, trying not to get any pumpkin chunks on his clothing.]

[ We definitely can't have that, for sure. ]

Exactly my point. They think they can just walk up and start touching all the pages and who knows where their hands have been!

[He's glad we're all in agreement here.]

[ Crowley manages to snicker a bit, even in his current form, slithering up and around Aziraphale’s wrist affectionately. ]

If you need me to ssscare them off, all you have to do is asssk.

[He pats Crowley as he slithers. Good snake, best friend.]

Duly noted. We'll see how the pumpkin manages, and go on from there, shall we?

[ Aziraphale is very warm, which is always something that Crowley likes about him, but especially when he’s snakey. ]

It’ll probably jusssst encourage them.

[Thank you, he tries to be. Especially since snakey Crowley is a relatively rare Crowley to see.]

You think so? [Hmm.] Perhaps the customers will be so distracted by the pumpkin, they'd forget about the books entirely.

[ He gives the angel a snakey grin, slithering back up his arm. ]

[He giggles a little as he goes past the elbow -- he's a bit ticklish, it can't be helped -- before smiling right back.]

Mind yourself, I've still got a vegetable to carve and I'd very much like to avoid accidentally nicking you.
