Are you over 18? Oh yes
Do you have any other characters in game?: Ayup, Mina Harker.
Who invited you?: I invited myself!!!
Character Name: Crowley. Sometimes calls himself Anthony J. Crowley (the J doesn't stand for anything. It's just a J.)
Canon: Good Omens
Canon Point: post-S2.
Age: Literally older than the concept of Time.
History: Thank Go - Sata - someone, there's a wiki for that
Is this character an AU? What type?: Nope
Personality: Crowley is a demon, but probably the first thing anyone should know about him after that is that he's not, like, evil. The crime that led to his fall from Heaven seems to have been... asking questions. Questions like "why would God go to all the trouble to create humans, let them live for 6000 years, and then just destroy them?" That's the kind of demon Crowley is. The kind who encourages Eve to eat the forbidden fruit because why would God make a big apple tree, put it in the middle of the Garden, and then put a big "don't touch" sign in front of it? Asking questions is just kind of Crowley's thing, and frankly, it's gotten him into trouble from both sides - he doesn't like Hell anymore than he likes Heaven, and neither side has ever valued him or accepted him for who he is. He is, in short, a reject. He has opinions that simply don't align with Heaven, and he's not evil enough for Hell.
And that's another important thing about Crowley - he's sick of all the fighting between Heaven and Hell, especially when that fighting leads to a bunch of hapless humans getting killed or suffering for seemingly no good reason. He likes humanity, actually, though he feigns indifference. He's spent more time on Earth than down in Hell, so maybe he's gone a little native, but humans are clever, creative, and often make the most of their short time on Earth - they are, in short, fun. Way more fun than self-righteous angels or boringly evil demons.
Crowley likes to make a show of being a big bad scary demon sometimes, but in all honesty, he's a big softie. He hates seeing people suffer, and refuses to harm innocent people. Even when he's doing his demonic job, the worst things he does amount to inconveniences. He likes to play pranks, but he's not here to destroy lives, and he will be quick to point out that humans are far more diabolical towards each other than any demon could ever manage. And he cares enough about humanity that he renounced his loyalty to Hell, and helped a bunch of humans prevent the apocalypse.
And then. And then. There's Aziraphale. Aziraphale is an angel, his natural enemy, but he's also the one being who - since literally the Beginning - has accepted Crowley for who he is, without judgment, and been a friend, a confidante. For centuries, they had an "Arrangement" - a deal whereby they would occasionally help each other out in their respective jobs - miracles, temptations - and really it was just an excuse to spend time with each other clendestinely. Then, they actually got their shit together long enough to help prevent the actual apocalypse, and were able to try being "on their own side" for a while. Right up until Aziraphale got offered a big promotion in Heaven, and tried to talk Crowley into coming with him. Back to Heaven. The place that rejected Crowley, cast him out, reviled and rejected him. Crowley couldn't accept that. And Aziraphale couldn't - or wouldn't - give up Heaven for him.
So anyway, Crowley is now a heartbroken demon, believing that he's lost the one person he thought cared about him. He is depressed and at a loss for how to proceed without the being who has anchored his existence for centuries now. What's a little lost demon to do with himself?
Powers and Abilities: It's tough to pin down Crowley's abilities except to say that they are vaguely reality-bending. In general, if Crowley assumes that something will be true, then it will be. For instance, he assumes that all cars have a CD player in them, so if he were to hop in a military jeep - despite the fact that military jeeps do not have CD players in them, this one immediately would. If he assumes that he can drive 90 mph in the middle of London during rush hour without hitting anyone, then he will. He can also do what he describes as "demonic miracles" which are exactly the same as angelic miracles, except that he's a demon. So he can miraculously save his best friend's priceless first editions from a bomb. He can snap his fingers and repair a cracked headlamp, or release his friend from prison.
Obviously, this has the potential to be a bit gamebreaking, so he'll be nerfed in the Library pretty significantly. The most he'll be able to do is stuff like - miracle himself a new jacket, or refill an empty bottle of booze so he can get drunk (and then sober himself up afterwards). He won't be able to open that Staff Only door, or anything like that.
Inventory: He's basically just going to arrive with the clothes on his back. He doesn't have anything else on his person (he can miracle up anything he wants or needs, after all).
Sample: TDM threads
When presented with a choice, is the character more likely to stick with tried and true methods? Or make something new up on the fly? He makes things up as he goes, frankly. Rules are for losers, and in his experience, the people who make the rules do not have his best interests at heart. He's rejected the grand plans of both Heaven and Hell more than once at this point.
What is more important to your character, preserving the past or forging a future? He'd like to forge a future, however the person he wanted to share that future with has seemingly betrayed and abandoned him, so he's kind of stuck in a holding pattern right now.
How does your character influence their own story? What about the stories of others? Crowley tends to be lurking around the edges of other people's stories - he's an influencer, more than he is someone who drives things forward actively. Being a professional tempter, he's good at (and used to) talking people into doing things they already want to do.
Are you alright with your character’s canon being used as a Recommended Reading?: Absolutely 100% yes.
